On May 6, 2020, Gail Bonham Woody passed away at the age of 78 surrounded by her loving family, after a long fight with Alzheimer’s.
Gail was born February 23, 1942, to David and Irene Denison in Brooklyn, New York. Life as an army wife took Gail all over the country, including Alaska, Massachusetts, and New Jersey, before she eventually settled down and spent the rest of her life in Texas to raise her two daughters near her husband’s family. She enjoyed affectionately pestering her daughters, doting on her grandchildren, and, in later years, traveling and enjoying the companionship of her RV club. However, her greatest joy was spoiling her only great-grandchild, Brett.
She walked through life with a loving heart and a sharp wit. Her stories were long-winded and meandering, sometimes wise, occasionally pointless, and always engaging. Though always frugal, Gail understood the value and joy of eating dessert first.
Gail was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, John Otis Bonham; their younger daughter, Janice Peterson; Janice’s partner, Scott Robinson; and her second husband, A.D. Woody, all of who she dearly loved.
She is remembered lovingly by her older daughter, Brenda Daughtry (husband, Wyley), grandchildren, Matt Daughtry (and wife, Mary Scoville) and Sarah George (and husband, Cameron), her great-grandson, Brett George; Jamie Walker (who she loved like a granddaughter), as well as her brother Harvey Denison, sister Eileen Abbott, and many other family and friends who were lucky enough to have crossed paths with Gail in their lifetime.
Service for Gail Bonham Woody will be 2:00 P.M., Thursday, May 7, 2020, at the Lane Prairie Baptist Church. Burial will be in Lane Prairie Cemetery.
