Gary Don Watters passed away at his home in Grandview on Thursday, April 10, 2025. He was born on October 21, 1947 in Burleson, Texas. He married Patricia Kay Watts on May 28, 1966 in Burleson. Gary Don was of the Baptist faith. He retired as a Correctional Officer with the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Department.

He was a “family man”, in every sense of the phrase – always putting his family first. Gary Don was known as a great dancer, an animal lover and loyal Railroaders baseball fan. He loved fishing with his brother-in-law, Pat and his Yorkie, Lucas. Gary Don has been described as being a “character” and “prankster”. He kept you on your toes and with laughter in your heart. He converted from being an avid deer hunter to enjoying feeding and watching deer from his front door. Gary Don was not an idle man, he was always doing something or going somewhere. His strong will and independent spirit will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jesse Ray Watters; mother, Medora Mae Watters; step-mother, Montine Watters; sister, Olivia Brown; step-brother, Joe Bob Young; and step-sister, Nancy Crowe.

Survivors include his wife of almost 59 years, Patricia Kay Watters; children, Ray Glenn Watters, Gay Lynn Milner & her husband, Don, Tara Humphreys & her husband, Louis, and Jeff Raymond & his wife, Holly; grandchildren, Leanne Guhl & Kevin, Zach Watters & Sarah, Jake Milner & Jazmene, Erin Humphreys & Mindy, Trace Humphreys & Katie, Aaron Young & Brittany, Madalyn Raymond, Beck Raymond, and Bristol Raymond; great grandchildren, Adrian, Marina, Dayton, and Colson; sister, Carol Johnson & her husband, Tommy; brother-in-law, Pat Brown; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other friends and relatives.
