Services for Gene Ford, 84, of Cleburne, will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Monday, October 4, 2021, in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Reverend Todd Ledbetter and Jody Jones will officiate. Burial to follow in Cleburne Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 P.M., Sunday, October 3, 2021, at the funeral home.
Gene passed away Monday, September 27, 2021, in Cleburne. He was born February 16, 1937, in Huntsville, Texas to Cecil Eugene Ford Sr., and Sally Emmaline (Cunningham) Ford. He married Gwendolyn Mae “Gwen” Ledbetter on November 7, 1958, in Cleburne. Gene was of the Baptist faith. He was the owner and operator of Gene’s Auto Salvage for over 50 years. Gene served in the United States Air Force from 1954-1958. He was an extremely hard worker who believed in minding your own business. Gene was known for his talent in restoring antique cars, and even built all of his children’s first cars. He won many car shows throughout the years, and collected over 30 Nomads, holding the record for the most in Texas at one point. He was a quiet man who you listened to, especially when he started to roll his cigar. He was an avid dog lover. Gene’s love of laughter and happy nature will be greatly missed.
Gene is survived by his wife, Gwen; children, Curtis Ford and wife, Kandi, Debby Fox, Gwenda Davis and husband John, Randy Ford and wife, Kelly; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; siblings, Pat Jones, Gail Hall, Linda Melton, and Larry Ford; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Mr. Ford is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Carol June Ford; daughter-in-law, Sandra Ford; sons-in-law, Barry Fox, Travis Sellers and Steve Spears; grandsons, Cody Ford, and Jeremy Ford; brother-in-law, Leon Jones and sister-in-law, Gwen Ford.
