Gene Ganong

Services for Gene "Tuffy" A. Ganong, 72, of Whitney, will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. The Rev. Jerry Irvin and Rev. Charles Payne will officiate. Burial will be in Bono Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Robert Carroll, Tiger Pierce, Damian Hernandez, Mike Powers, Dick Helmcamp and David Walker. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday.
Mr. Ganong passed away Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2009 in Port O'Connor. He was born July 07, 1937 to Arthur Burton and Willie Roberta Arnold Ganong. He married Linda Kay Walker on May 23, 1963 in Cleburne.
He was a painter and paper hanger in the building industry. He could build or fix anything and he loved to fish, but His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family and friends. He was also very active in the Cleburne Golden Pride Band and a member of King Memorial United Methodist Church of Whitney.
Gene "Tuffy" Ganong is survived by his wife, Linda Walker Ganong of Whitney; children, Kelly Powers and husband, Mike, of Ft. Worth and Curtis Ganong and wife, Kendall of Uvalde; 3 grandchildren, Damian Hernandez and wife, P.J. of Ft. Worth, Carson and Austin Ganong of Uvalde; 2 great-grandchildren, Davon and Jocelyn Hernandez of Ft. Worth; 3 siblings, A.B. Ganong, Jr and wife, Joyce of Godley, Helen Payne and husband Jack of Round Rock, and Betty Jolley and husband, Jack of Brenham and a host of other friends and relatives.
