Service for Gene Vidler, 78, of Cleburne will be conducted at 10:30 A.M., Monday, May 19, 2014 in Field Street Baptist Church. The Reverend John Glover and the Reverend Larry York will officiate. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8:00 P.M., Sunday, at the funeral home.

Gene Vidler passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2014 in Cleburne. He was born December 19, 1935 in Bono to Walter John and Lucy Etta Duvall Vidler. He married Donna Marie Beckner on June 17, 1955 in Cleburne.

Mr. Vidler worked as an electrician, retiring in 1995, after 10 years of service with the Santa Fe Railroad and 33 years of service with the General Motors Corp. He enjoyed working on cars, golfing at least four times a week, traveling, yard work and photography. He was a faithful and active member of Field Street Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Word Seekers Sunday School class and volunteered in the SOS food bank. He was also a former Deacon at North Cleburne Baptist Church. Gene will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his wife of almost 59 years, Donna Vidler; children, Danny Vidler and Darren Vidler and wife Christine; six grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
