George Holt

Service for George Leon Holt, 85, of Rio Vista will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2011 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Burial will be in Rio Vista Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandsons. Visitation will be from 6-8 P.M. Tuesday.

Mr. Holt passed away Monday, Dec. 26, 2011 in Cleburne. He was born Aug. 16, 1926 in Blum to John Wiley and Mamie Lorene Upchurch Holt. He married Betty Joyce Moore on March 2, 1973 in Cleburne.

Mr. Holt was a retired mechanic with 26 years service for Sears. He also ranched and worked for Kopperl ISD. George was a member of the First Baptist Church in Rio Vista.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Betty Holt of Rio Vista; daughters, Linda Vass and husband Donnie of Hideway, TX, Debbie Ezzell and husband Larry of Tyler and Sandy Dexheimer and husband Steve of Buckeye, AZ; son, Gary Holt and wife Lisa of Granbury; stepson, Ernest Peugh and wife Shelia and stepdaughter, Linda Garner and husband Albert, all of Cleburne; 15 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; sisters, Betty J. Basye of Cleburne and Elsie Hill and husband Glen of Blum. He was preceded in death by his parents, one stepson, Eugene Peugh, eight brothers and nine sisters.
