Gertrude Reiter

A graveside service for Gertrude Mae Reiter, 91, of Keene, will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23, 2011, in the Valley View Cemetery, Valley View, Texas. Chaplain Nancy Schneider will officiate.
Gertie was born on Sept. 15, 1920, to John Hicks and Mae Brown Ross in Whitesboro, Texas. She married Rudolph P. Reiter on June 7, 1939, in Marietta, Okla. Gertie worked in Gainesville at Kress and T.G. & Y.
Gertie and Rudolph retired and moved to Keene, Texas, in 1977. She went to work for Tree of Life in 1978 and retired after 27 years on April 1, 2005. She passed peacefully on Oct. 20, 2011, with family by her side.
She was preceded in death by Rudolph; daughter, Dorothy "Dottie Reiter; sisters, Pauline Kirkland, Imogene Ingles, Dora Faye Davison and Del "Pete" Nicholson.
She is survived by daughters, Juanita Rollins of Campbell, Texas, and Shirley Miller of Keene, Texas; granddaughters, Donna Hacker and husband, Basil, Debbie McCage, Renee Rollins and Deanna Garrison; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Willie Jo Jones of Mesquite, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews and the Reiter families of Keene, Cleburne, Valley View and Fort Worth.
