The Rev. Glenn Carroll Bowman, 89, a retired United Methodist minister, passed away unexpectedly on September 5, 2006 at his home in Joshua, Texas. He was born in Comanche County, Texas, the son of Lonnie and Opha Bowman. After graduation from Comanche High School he earned a B.S. degree from Daniel Baker College in Brownwood and a B.S. degree from Perkins School of Theology at S.M.U. He married Vera Mae Moore on May 20, 1939 in Comanche, Texas. They were married 56 years until her death in October 1995. In his 41 years of ministry he pastored 18 charges within the Central Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church. He also served on local and national committees and was a member of the Board of Directors for Harris Hospital, member of the Board of Directors of Church Growth and Development, member of the Conference Committee on Ordained Ministry and served as the Central Texas Conference Statistician for 31 years. He was a member and past president of the Joshua Lions Club, a member of the Caddo Grove Masonic Lodge #352, member of the Moslah Temple Shriners, a member of Good Sam Campers, and a cluster group of retired Methodist ministers. He married Ida Fields McAfee on September 7, 1996. His interest and hobbies included travel, music, gardening and his family.

Bowman is survived by his wife, Ida Bowman of Joshua; daughter, Carol Bowman Williams and husband, Bob, of Cleburne; stepdaughters, Zelma Bielat and husband, Martin, of Covington and Jan Rogan of Mesquite; granddaughters, Cherie Oehler and husband, Paul, and Christy Gentry and husband, Benjie; great-grandchildren, Patrick, Parker and Catherine; five stepgrandchildren; 10 stepgreat-grandchildren; brothers, LB Bowman and wife, Margaret, Weldon Bowman and wife, Susan, and Preston Bowman and wife, Betty; sisters, LaVelle Parsons and husband, Wayne, and LaVerne Dillashaw; and a number of nieces and nephews.
