Grant Tomb passed away peacefully on May 29th, 2022 surrounded by family members from around the country. He was a proud veteran of the USMC. But, he was perhaps most well-known for his love of history; he could tell you anything you wanted to know about the Civil War in detail and one of his greatest passions was genealogy. He could recite his ancestors from memory all the way back to the 1700s and tell you about each of their lives. Above all, he was a selfless, kind and generous man who would do anything for anyone.
Grant was born July 25, 1941 in Jersey Shore, Pennsylvania to Gail Edward Tomb and Mary Ruth Perry Tomb. He married Kathleen Heck in Mount Vernon, Texas.
He leaves behind his sweet wife of 50-years, Kathy Tomb, 8 children: Michelle Hammond of Venus, Rochelle Tomb of Tennessee, Crystal Dudley and spouse, Scott of Rio Vista, Phyllis Dickerson of Cleburne, Denise Tomb of Cleburne, Grant Tomb, Jr, and spouse, Shelly of New York, Tammy Tomb of Pennsylvania and Eric Tomb of Rio Vista, 27 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild, his sister Barbara Bellinger of Pennsylvania , sister-in-law, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews and many many friends. He will be missed greatly. While we all mourn his loss and feel the void left behind, we are grateful that he went peacefully.
Grant is preceded in death by his parents and brother Jerry.
