Service for Guy Neal Parnell, 81, of Cleburne will be conducted at 10:00 A.M., Monday, Jan. 16, 2017 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Pastor Rod Strickland will officiate, assisted by Rex Parnell and Josh Daniel. Interment will follow at 1:00 P.M., Monday, at DFW National Cemetery in Dallas. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 P.M., Sunday, at the funeral home.
Guy Neal Parnell passed away after a long illness on Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017, with his family at his side. He was born March 27, 1935 in Alamogordo, NM to E.O. and Camella Patterson Parnell.
Mr. Parnell served in the United States Air Force and was the son of an itinerant evangelist. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and a friend to many. Guy began playing music at the age of four and was a well-known Fort Worth musician, performing for Kings, composers and crowds from Fort Worth to Detroit and Memphis to Morocco.
He returned to his Christian faith and music and put his talent to work saving souls and soothing hearts. Guy returned to Cleburne in 1983 and played in a local Christian band with Otis Bullard. He and Bonnie also produced Send The Light Worship Broadcast on KCLE for 13 years.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Bonnie Parnell of Cleburne; daughters, Linda Wooten and husband Robert of Ft. Worth, Kathleen Tompkins and husband Brian of Cedar Park and Michele Parnell Homberg of Belton; sons, John Carroll Parnell of Temple and Paul Parnell and wife Stephanie of Cleburne; grandchildren, A.J., Renee, Seth, Anthony, Jacob, Emily and Tristan; four great grandchildren; brother, Rex Parnell of Enid, OK; sisters, Phyllis Jackson of St. Louis, MO and Tamar Williams of Coweta, OK.; and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss him greatly. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Guy Daniel Parnell.
