H. Staples

H. D. "Dock" Staples passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2008 in Godley. He was born June 21, 1915 in Bonita, Texas to Charley Preston and Georgia Vera Snapp Staples. He married Winnie Groves July 17, 1938 in Hermleigh, Texas. She preceded him in death August 18, 2005.
Mr. Staples, an educator, taught six years at Godley ISD and twenty-two years at Joshua ISD. Staples Elementary School in Joshua was named in his honor. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Godley, Godley Masonic Lodge and the Godley Lions Club. He also enjoyed raising cattle.
H.D. "Dock" Staples is survived by one son, Dwin Staples and wife Margaret; grandsons, Clint Staples and wife Jylyce and Steve Staples and wife Shiloh all of Glen Rose; Great grandchildren Abigail and Cason and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers Don Staples and Deward Staples and sister Doris Campbell.
