Service for Harold Eugene Riggs, 87, of Godley will be conducted at 10:00 A.M., Monday, July 11, 2016 in the Godley Western Fellowship Church. Brother Don DeFoor will officiate assisted by the Reverend Ken Coleman. Burial with Masonic rites will be in Godley Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gayland Hubbard, Wayne Litchfield, Alex Mason, Eddie Maxwell, Mark Armstrong, Leslie Richardson, Joe Barber, and Dillard Crook. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Hopper, Jack Rowland, Don Jernigan, Glen Tucker, and Fred Willis. Visitation will be from 6-8 P.M., Sunday, at the funeral home.
Harold Eugene Riggs, a dairyman, farmer and truck driver, passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2016 in Godley. He was born Sept. 1, 1928 in Godley to James Alton and Jettie Mae Baggett Riggs. Harold married Jennie Charlene Archer on Sept. 30, 1950 in Houston and she preceded him in death on Nov. 27, 2004.
Mr. Riggs was a lifelong resident of Johnson County; a longtime member of Godley United Methodist Church and attended faithfully Godley Western Fellowship Church. He served his community on the school board, church board and youth group, and was a Master Mason for more than 50 years in the Godley Masonic Lodge No. 822.
Survivors include his daughter, Pamela Riggs Jackson of Granbury; grandchildren, Shane Laws and wife Ali of Dodge City, KS and Christie Simms Wyatt and husband Chad of Godley; great grandchildren, Shalor Laws of Dodge City, KS, Cale Jean Broyles of Godley, and Zack Wyatt of Azle; sister, Evelyn Paris; and sister-in-law, Johnnie Riggs. He was also preceded in death by his parents; brother, Curtis Riggs; and sister, Mary Katherine Prather.
