Service for Harold Wilson “Bud” Slaughter, 93, of Cleburne, will be conducted at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, June 14, 2016 in the First United Methodist Church of Cleburne. Dr. Robert Herzig will officiate. Burial will be at 3:00 P.M., Tuesday, in the Highland Cemetery in Anna. Pallbearers will be Daniel Slaughter, John Slaughter, Matthew Slaughter, Austin Polson, Asa Jones, and Zac Jones. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 P.M., Monday, at the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Funeral Home.
Harold Wilson “Bud” Slaughter passed away Friday, June 10, 2016. He was born Jan. 23, 1923 in Anna to Everett Osborne and Annie Laura Wilson Slaughter. He married Virginia Ruth Roberts on Dec. 25, 1947 in Anna.
Mr. Slaughter served in the United States Army Air Corps and was a school administrator at Rio Vista ISD, with more than 30 years of service before retiring. He was a loving husband, father, grand and great grandfather, and a friend to many. Bud was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Cleburne.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 68 years, Virginia Slaughter of Cleburne; sons, Brent Slaughter and wife Deborah and Bob Slaughter and wife Happy, all of Cleburne; daughters, Marianne Jones and husband Rick of Hico and Jan Peterson and husband Kirk of Cleburne; 14 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; brother, John Slaughter of Abilene; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Barry Slaughter; and five sisters, Doris White, Betty Jo Kannenberg, Emily Borden, Kincaid Morgan, and Sara Woods.
