Harriett Lucille McBride, 78, went to be with the Lord on August 29, 2007 at the Huguley Hospice in Burleson, after a lengthy illness.
FUNERAL: Crosier-Pearson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. There will be a visitation Thursday, August 30, 2007 from 7PM to 9PM.
BURIAL: A graveside service will be at Glenwood Cemetery in Alvarado, Friday at 10:30 AM, August 31, 2007.
Harriett was born October 11, 1928 in Post, Texas, Garza County to the late Harry John (1969) and Margie Vaughn Baker-Dietrich (1981). She graduated Post High School and married Arvel R. McBride, February 9, 1947. They settled in Alvarado in 1950 and had two daughters. They were married 40 years before Arvels's death September 24, 1987.
Harriett worked the Alvarado Drug store when her children were young and sold Avon for 15 years, winning numerous awards for sale achievement. In the 1960's she helped organize the Girl Scout troops to the Alvarado community. In 1969 she became a bank teller at Citizens State Bank later renamed Alvarado Community Bank, which later became known as Alvarado State Bank. She became an officer of the bank before her retirement 22 years later. During her banking years she was on the first committee, which organized the Alvarado Santa's Helpers organization. She served as treasurer for many years and loved to shop for the children. She was very proud of Santa's Helpers and how many people they were able to help each year. She was a member of the Alvarado Planning and Zoning for several years. In 1985 she opened Video Junction in Grandview. The following year she opened a second Video Junction in Alvarado. After 15 years she retired from the video business. In 2001 she worked medical records in a physicians office. She loved to travel with her fiends and enjoyed musicals and movies. She also helped deliver Meals on Wheels. She truly loved her church and all the members. She was preceded in death by her husband Arvel in 1987, brother James Dietrich (1977) of Post, Texas and brother Bob Dietrich (2005) Hamilin, Texas.
Survivors: daughters, Kathy Goff and husband David Goff, of Arlington and Debbie Pack and husband Larry Pack, of Cleburne. Two grandsons, Robert (Robbie) Pack of Cleburne, and Shawn Pack,D.D.S. of Keller, Texas. Sister Helen Hopper of Alvarado. Five nephews Gary Dietrich and Ronnie Hopper of Alvarado, Ricky Hopper of Cleburne, Harry Dietrich of Wyoming, Larry Dietrich of Hamlin. Two nieces: Frances Wortham of Lubbock and Mary Ann DeGrant of Alvarado. Numerous great and great-great nieces and nephew. Sister-in-laws: Vearl McBride of Post, TX, Marie Dietrich of Hamlin, TX and Lousie Dietrich of Lubbock.
She was blessed with many lifelong friends. Too many to name each, but they gave her encouragement, love and support. Many called her each day, which was deeply appreciated. They gave her laughter and joy. She loved each and everyone.
Memorials: We would like to request any donations be made to the First United Methodist Church in Alvarado or the Alvarado Animal Shelter as she love pets.
