Harvey LaVerne Caviness passed away Monday, August 7, 2006 in Ft. Worth. He was born June 19, 1919 in Liberty Center, Iowa to Bert and Lula Mae Yates Caviness. He married Virginia Bess Tubbs on September 27, 1944.
Mr. Caviness graduated from Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska and TCU with his Masters in Business and PHD from the University of Nebraska. He was raised on a farm in Iowa and as a teenager the family moved to Lincoln, Nebraska, so he could attend college. While there the family started Caviness Confectionery, which sold ice cream and sandwiches to the students at Union College, he also delivered ice. Mr. Caviness was a university professor and a member of Keene Seventh Day Adventist Church, Crowley Lions Club, Keene Kiwanas Club, Retired Teachers Association of Texas and Retired Seventh Day Adventist Teachers Association.
Harvey LaVerne Caviness is survived by wife, Virginia Bess Tubbs Caviness of Keene; daughter, Carolyn Collette Caviness Fisher of Keene; granddaughter, Aimee Andrea Fisher Riza and husband Steven of Keene; great grandson, Ashton Page Brazier; great granddaughter, Alexxus Andrea Riza. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Heidi Heather Fisher Hopps in June 11, 2001.
