Hattie West
Service for Hattie Azlee Roye Watson West, 90, of Covington will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. The Reverend Alton Harwell will officiate. Burial will follow in Blanton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 P.M., Tuesday, at the funeral home.
Mrs. West passed away Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013 in Glen Rose. She was born March 7, 1922 in the Goatneck Community of Johnson County to William Marvin and Angie Pearl Anderson Roye.
Mrs. West was a homemaker and a member of the Woodrow Baptist Church since 1944. She loved flowers, both wildflowers and those she grew. She was a member of The Order of the Eastern Star in Blum for 52 years and the Quilting Club in Blum. She also loved gospel singing and served as a song leader at her church for more than 50 years. Azlee and Lowell farmed together for many years and she continued farming for several years after his death.
Survivors include her daughters, Barbra Tubbs and husband Ray, Nelda Matthews and husband, Cecil and Pearlie Roberts and husband, Terry; sons, Bobby Watson and wife, Carrol, William Watson and wife, Paula, and Doug Watson and wife, Irene; 40 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and 12 great-great grandchildren; brothers, Leo Roye and wife, Marie and Junior Roye and wife, Wilma; sisters, Violet Copeland, Wanda Harwell and husband, Kenneth; and sister-in-law, Virginia Roye. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 42 years, Lowell Watson; husband of 12 years, Ollie West and granddaughters, Melanie Watson and Angie Tubbs.
