Mrs. Freeman passed away March 3, 2023 in Keene. She was born January 3, 1927 in Jennings, Louisiana to Jesse Lee and Minnie Lee Greene Oehler. She married Gerald Edward Freeman on October 26, 1945 in Orange, Texas. He preceded her in death on May 9, 2000. She was a secretary for numerous years in physician’s offices and for Keene Seventh-day Adventist Church. Mrs. Freeman was a member of Keene Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Hazel was a creative person, whether it was as a dancer/exerciser, writing poetry, painting, knitting Afghans, learning from the Bible, studying the Bible with others, or creating a home for herself and her dog or canary. She was very appreciative of every small blessing that came her way and lived her life with her relationship to Christ in the foreground.
Her early background created a life-long pattern of living which included being very independent and very stubborn about being independent. This served her well for 96 years.
Mrs. Freeman is survived by her son, David Freeman and wife, Nancy of Spring, Texas; 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Freeman is also preceded in death by her daughter, Terri Cossin in 2009; siblings Donald Oehler and Robert Oehler.
