Service for Helen Mathis, 81, of Cleburne, will be conducted at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, June 14, 2017 in the Calvary Baptist Church of Cleburne. The Reverend Charles E. Payne will officiate, assisted by the Reverend Brooks Monk. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 P.M., Tuesday, at the funeral home.
Helen Mathis passed away June 9, 2017 in Cleburne. She was born December 23, 1935 in Cleburne to R.D. and Lemma Bruce Doty. She married Charles Mathis on Sept. 1, 1956 in Joshua.
Mrs. Mathis worked as a cashier for CISD until retiring. Helen loved the Lord and was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include her beloved husband, Charles Mathis of Cleburne; children, Jay Mathis and wife Julie of Cleburne and Penni Mathis Kimm and husband John of New Braunfels; grandchildren, Autumn Van Winkle and husband Tyson of Cleburne, Brooke Mathis of Sherman, Kolby Wallis of Cleburne and Ricky Mathis, Jr. and wife Kristal; great grandchildren, Rylee Mathis and Kyler Mathis, both of Midlothian, and Killian Wallis and Lawson Van Winkle, both of Cleburne; siblings, Gracie Moore and Isaac Doty, both of Rio Vista; and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss her greatly. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Ricky Mathis; and sisters, Margie Chasteen, Mary Moore, and Melba Wakeland.
