Service for Helen Pierce, 89, of Cleburne will be conducted at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, May 14, 2016 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. The Reverend Mark Ely will officiate. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 P.M., Friday, at the funeral home.
Helen Pierce passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2016 in Ft. Worth. She was born Jan. 10, 1927 in Mexia to Claudie J. and Myrtie Page Black. She married James Gordon Sams on May 16, 1942 and he preceded her in death in January of 1974. She married Earl George Pierce on Dec. 17, 1975 in Oklahoma and he preceded her in death in March of 2015.
Mrs. Pierce worked at General Dynamics in Ft. Worth before retiring and was a member of College Heights Baptist Church.
Survivors include her son, James Sams and wife Carla of Ft. Worth; daughter, Judy Richmond of Cleburne; sister, Frances Shamblin of Cleburne; grandchildren, Keith Saunders and wife Kara of Granbury and Wendy Piety and husband Kent, all of Granbury, Eric Sams and wife Karen of Weatherford, and Ashley Cox and husband Brian of Ft. Worth; 11 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; and two sisters.
