Services for Henry Bernard Ballew Sr., 91, of Cleburne will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 28, 2015, in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. The Rev. John Glover will officiate. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Corey Cannon, Will Bacon, Parker Dean, Garrett Kidd, David Ortiz, Nim Kidd, Cheston Cannon and Sam Bacon. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Henry Bernard Ballew Sr. passed away Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2015, in Cleburne. He was born Aug. 3, 1924, in Johnson County to Henry Jefferson and Mamie Smith Ballew.
Mr. Ballew graduated Cleburne High School in 1941 as valedictorian. He was a dairy farmer, who loved traveling, square dancing, playing dominoes, the Dallas Cowboys and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a board member of the local Campfire USA, an active member of Cleburne Satellite Camping Club, a member of the Curli-Qs Square Dance Club and a 32nd degree Mason at Cleburne Masonic Lodge No. 315. He was also a former volunteer in Walls Hospital Auxiliary. Bernard will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his children, Jane Bacon and husband, Don, of Canyon Lake, Judy Vinson and husband, Darrell, of Cleburne, Henry Ballew Jr. and partner, Ernie Robinson, of Burleson; step-daughter, Marianne Walker and husband, Bill, of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Corey Cannon, Emily Kidd and husband, Nim, Sarah Ortiz and husband, David, Sam Bacon, Will Bacon and partner, Lacie Fields, and Katie Bacon; step-grandchildren, Robert King and wife, Ann-Katherine, Mary Nell Andrus and husband, John, Nicole Whiteside, Will Walker, Matt Walker and Kirsten Philip; great-grandchildren, Garrett Kidd, Abby Dean, Parker Dean, Carlie Stratemann, Carolyn Stratemann, Letty Ortiz, Lilly Ortiz, Maya Ortiz and Cheston Cannon; step-great-grandchildren, Sara King, Grant King, Claire Andrus and Meredith Andrus; great-great-grandson, Thaddeus Delgado; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Willie Jane Bauldwin Ballew in 1991; second wife, Ida Nell Snider Ballew in 2011; stepson, Jim Snider; grandson, Cullen Cannon in 1998; brother, Bud Ballew; and sisters, Mary Milstead and Evelyn Doty.
