Service for Herbert Harris Hancock, 79, of the Covington, will be conducted at 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 11, 2005 in the Cleburne Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. BB Stevens and Mr. Dennis Crecelius will officiate. Burial will be in the Derden Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Powell Cooper, Don Ward, Butch Philps, Rex Bullard, Jason Hackler, Don Bell. Honorary Pallbearers will be H.I. Moore, Kevin Hackler, Kenneth McNanily, Calvin Gist and James Hackler.
Mr. Hancock passed away Saturday, April 9, 2005 in Derden. He was born July 25, 1925 in Covington, TX. to Carrol Demous and Myrl Lavern Cooper Hancock. He married Bertha Lee Hall on Oct. 2, 1947 in Rio Vista. Mr. Hancock was a truck driver and a farmer for 40 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the Rio Vista Church Of Christ where he was a past treasurer and was the treasurer of the Derden Cemetery Association. He enjoyed farming, caring for his cattle, deep sea fishing and hunting.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years Bertha Lee Hancock of Covington; sons, Danny Herbert Hancock and wife Terri of Ft. Worth and Steve Douglas Hancock and wife Paula of Haslet; daughter, Virginia Ann Young and husband Jeff of Cleburne; brothers, C.D. Hancock of Odessa and Larry Hancock of Covington; sisters, Mary Turner of Cleburne and Doris Simmons of Cleburne; 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Billy Carrol Hancock and brother in law, Files Turner.
Visitation will be from 3:00 - 5:00p.m. Sunday at the Cleburne Funeral Home.
