Funeral services for Hesta Gandy Barker, 77, of San Angelo, will be conducted at 10: 00 A.M. Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at the Johnson Street Church of Christ, San Angelo. Graveside services will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park, Lubbock, Texas at 3:30 P.M.

Hesta passed away Thursday, January 30, 2014 in Arlington, Texas. She was born to Nathaniel Afton and Anna Deliah Barbee Gandy on August 8, 1936 in Lone Oak, Texas. Hesta retired as a sales representative with JC Penney. She was a member of Johnson Street Church of Christ, San Angelo and the Order of the Eastern Star, Lubbock. Hesta married Hayden Barker on August 25, 1984 in Lubbock, Texas. Hesta was known as a devoted Christian lady who was always looking on the brighter side of things. She was devoted to her family. She enjoyed fishing, especially with her grandsons. Hesta loved dancing, and often said that she would rather dance than eat. Hesta was a firecracker with a gentle spirit. Her great sense of humor and sweet nature will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband, Hayden Barker; children, Tommy Rather, Renee Macdonald and husband, Rodney, and Craig Rather and wife, Julie; grandsons, Ryan Macdonald and fiance, Kassie Coston, Reece Macdonald and wife, Sarah, T.G. Rather, Chase Rather, Chandler Rather, and Trevor Rather; as well as a host of other relatives and friends, including special neighbors, Stan and Henry.
