Services for Hollis B. Chambers, 71, of Godley will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, April 24, 2007 in the First Baptist Church of Godley. The Reverend Don Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in the Caddo Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jack Garcia,Richard Cottongame, Mike Brewer, Patrick Brewer, Marlin Whitehead and Charlie Whitehead.
Mr. Chambers passed away Friday, April 20, 2007 in Corpus Christi, TX. He was born April 8, 1936 in Somerville, TX. to John Jefferson and Aimee Elizabeth Mattingly Chambers. He married Anita Miller on June 16, 1957 in Somerville, TX. Mr. Chambers was a retired owner and operator of a trucking company, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a member of the Methodist Church in Somerville.
Mr. Chambers is survived by his wife of almost 50 years Anita Chambers of Godley; three children, John Chambers, Sr. and wife Cindy of Godley, Randy Chambers of Burleson, Alesa Davis and husband Terry of Red Oak; sister, Virginia Ann Head of Houston; brother, Tommy Chambers and wife Margie of Brenham; sister in law, Tommylu Chambers of Canyon Lake; seven grandchildren, LaDonna Chambers, Amanda Holloway, Charlie Chambers, Tanya Chambers, John Chambers, Jr., Lauren Davis and Matthew Davis; 2 greatgrandchildren, Delainey and Jordan. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, John Darwin Chambers.
Visitation will be from 6-8 P.M., Monday at the funeral home.
