Services for Hollis Brown Joslin, 89, of Cleburne, will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 19, 2007 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Mr. David Berryman and Mr. David Tappe will officiate. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mr. Joslin's grandchildren.
Hollis Brown Joslin passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2007 in Cleburne. He was born May 1, 1918 in Pecan Grove, TX to Joseph and Annie Hayes Joslin. He was the oldest of six children. He married Lillian Lee Bilton on November 19, 1937 in Cleburne.
Mr. Joslin attended Santa Fe School and Alvarado High School and served in the CCC in Portal, AZ in 1936. He was a fireman and engineer for Santa Fe for 35 years. He became a Mason in 1948 and served as Master of the Lodge for 1988-1989. Mr. Joslin was a former member of Henderson St. Baptist Church in Cleburne, First Baptist Church in Alvarado, Calvary Baptist and First Baptist Church in Brownwood. Mr. Joslin was a leader in Royal Ambassadors, served as a deacon and taught Sunday School in theBaptist church. He is presently a member of Westhill Church of Christ.
Hollis Joslin was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Billie Owens and daughter-in-law, Pat Joslin. He is survived by his wife, Lillian Joslin of Cleburne; sons, Gene Joslin and wife Beverly of Cleburne, Robert Joslin of Arlington and Roger Joslin and wife Cindee of Bentonville, Arkansas; daughter, Valerie Moses and husband Rex of Nassau Bay, TX; brother, Lowell Joslin and wife Lorece of Cleburne; sisters, Allene Hanson, Maxine Allen and Marie and husband Leno Muinos all of California; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and daughters-in-law, Dyanne Welch and Dana Federer.
