Icie Borden
Service for Icie E. Borden, 78, of Leesville, SC, formerly of Cleburne, will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, August 18, 2012 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. The Reverend Billy McDaniel will officiate. Burial will follow in the Godley Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 P.M., Friday, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Borden passed away Wednesday, August 8, 2012 in Leesville, SC. She was born July 1, 1934 in Bells, Texas to Lige and Lois Farmer Meek. She was a loving wife to Joseph C. Borden for 42 years, a wonderful mother to her children and a proud grandmother to her grandchildren. She became an LVN in 1964 at Harris Hospital School Of Nursing and practiced her vocation until 2008. She loved being a nurse, showing her loving care and concern for her patients while working in various local hospitals, then as a hospice nurse for several years. She was an excellent cook, baking cakes and pies to share with friends and family. She was also an accomplished seamstress, using her talents for her family, and making costumes for Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington when they opened in 1960. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Cleburne for many years.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph C. Borden of Leesville, SC; two daughter, Linda Griffith McDaniel and husband Bill of Olney and Tammy Borden of Ft. Worth; three sons, Norman Griffith and wife Laurell of Elkhart, TX; Dorman Griffith of Mustang, OK; and Wade Borden of Columbia, SC; 13 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; sister, Joyce Yowell of Tom Bean, TX; several other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lige and Lois Farmer Meek; and brothers, Darrell Meek and Dan Meek.
Mrs. Borden requested that memorials may be made to Huguley Hospice, 301 Medpark Circle, Burleson, Texas 76028.
