Ingvald Marcus Bakke, Jr., Junior or Bakke to his friends, ended his brave battle with Frontotemporal Dementia on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, with his loving daughters diligently by his side.
Junior was the only child born to Elvie Warford and Ingvald Marcus Bakke, Sr. on October 15, 1944, in Odessa, TX. The Bakkes lived in Waco where Junior attended LaVega Schools. Always wanting to be part of a large family, Junior met Elizabeth Williams, and her 4 brothers and sisters, and it was a match made in heaven! Junior proposed to Elizabeth on February 14, 1963, and they married on June 15, 1963. Junior and Liz were blessed with two daughters, Brenda Bakke Shuttlesworth and Lori Bakke Burney. Junior worked for the railroad for almost 40 years, starting with the Santa Fe Railroad in Cleburne (which took him to Kansas for a while), then the BNSF in Temple, and ending his career with the Union Pacific in Fort Worth. Junior was also a faithful servant of the Lord. He stayed active in church until he could no longer physically attend. He spent countless vacations from work chaperoning church camp and youth activities and volunteering at vacation bible school. Junior was always a church leader and served as a deacon in the Baptist church.
There is a huge hole in the hearts of those he left behind: wife, Elizabeth; daughters, Brenda Shuttlesworth and husband Bill and Lori Burney and husband Derek; grandchildren: Collin Shuttlesworth, Braden Burney, Kamerann Burney, and Kelvon Yates.
Family will receive guests at visitation on Friday, December 16, 2022, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Funeral Home. Junior’s celebration of life will be Saturday, December 17, 2022, at 10:00 am at Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel with burial at Rose Hill Cemetery.
