Iva Barbee

Service for Iva Barbee, 93, of Cleburne, will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 5, 2013 in the Post Oak Cemetery Chapel, Glen Rose. Chaplain Matt McKethan and Dr. Don Shipman will officiate. Burial will be in Post Oak Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Chris Barbee, Devon Barbee, John Barbee, Randy Barbee, Rob Barbee and Tara Barbee.

Iva Barbee passed away Monday, December 31, 2012 in Burleson. She was born March 7, 1919 in Glen Rose to John David and Harriet Maude Sullivan Mitchell. She married Robert Barbee on October 18, 1941 in Fort Worth.

Iva had a wonderful sense of humor, was very playful and strong-willed. She loved to walk six to ten miles daily with her dear friend Margot. Fishing and sewing were some of her other favorite hobbies. She even mowed her grass at least twice a week whether it needed it or not until she was 91 years old. She was a member of Field Street Baptist Church. Iva was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother and friend.

She is survived by her children, Ronald Barbee, Dwight Barbee and wife, Judy and Dwanna Thomas and husband, Robert Sagstetter; grandchildren, Robert "Rob" and Laurie, Randy and Natalie, John and Erin, Chris and Christy, and Jennifer and Dane; nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Robert in 1991; one sister and seven brothers as well as five half brothers and sisters.

The family would like to thank the staff at Trinity Missions Nursing Home and Accolade Hospice for their care and compassion. It will always be remembered.

Memorials may be made to the giver's favorite charity or church in leui of flowers.
