Services for J.W. Dohoney, 89, of Cleburne, will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 29, 2007 at Field Street Baptist Church. Rev. Joe Stephens will officiate. A Masonic Graveside service will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. in Rose Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Alan Hall, Darren Johnson, Chet Sandberg, Ron Norman and Gene Galleger. Honorary pallbearers will be Clarence Phenney, Benson Shehorn, Paul H. Allen and Bill Dick Stringer, Vaughan Renfro and Collis Parker.
J.W. Dohoney passed away Thursday, January 25, 2007 in Glen Rose. He was born September 24, 1917 in Hico, Texas to Joseph and Margaret Leach Dohoney. He married Eunice Mozelle Welch on December 26, 1940 in Cleburne.
Mr. Dohoney retired as a machinist for Santa Fe Railroad and was a member of Cleburne Masonic Lodge #315, where he served as master in 1983, receiving his 50-year membership pin in 2006. He was a member of International Association of Machinists, where he served as secretary and treasurer from 1974-1979. Mr. Dohoney was a member of Field Street Baptist Church, where he formerly taught the Adult Men's Sunday School class for over 45 years.
J.W. Dohoney is survived by his son, Michael J. Dohoney and wife Gorg Ann of Cleburne; daughter, Martha Johnson of Tulsa, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Darren Johnson, Mimi Sandberg and Heidi Dohoney; great-grandchildren, Hannah Johnson, Cole Sandberg and Summer Sandberg. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mozelle Dohoney on December 2, 1998 and son, Billy Don Dohoney in 1945.
