A memorial service for J. Douglas Cain, 80, of Cleburne, Texas, will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, November 21, 2022, at First United Methodist Church in Cleburne. Interment to follow in Rosehill Cemetery for family and close friends. Doug’s son, Mayor Scott Cain will officiate with the eulogy led by Doug’s lifelong friend, Albert Archer. Visitation will be 4:00-6:00 P.M., Sunday, November 20, 2022, at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be grandsons Marcus Cain, Matthew Cain, Eli Woody, and son Clayton Woody. Honorable pallbearers will be the CHS Class of 1960.
Doug passed away Sunday, November 13, 2022, in Laurel, Mississippi where he went from the arms of his loving wife to the arms of his Savior. He was born August 25, 1942, in Brownfield to Elmer Neal and Ollie Gwendolen Scott Cain. Doug graduated from CHS as a proud member of Riley House. He married Mechael Faith Phillips on May 4, 1991. Doug was a talented architect, licensed in 17 states, where he worked on commercial buildings, churches and as a consultant for the Cleburne Depot project. Doug was a student and teacher of the Bible in many churches.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, James Cain, and Jere Mansfield; and stepfather, L.C. “Blackie” Mansfield.
He is survived by his loving family, including his wife, Mechael Cain; sons, Scott Cain and wife, Chris; Clayton Woody and wife, Julie; grandchildren, Marcus Cain and wife, Brianna; Matthew Cain and fiancé Emma Whitehorn; Kayli Woody; Eli Woody; and Emmalynn Woody. He is also survived by Wilson Chad Cain.
