Graveside service for J.C. Stafford, 88, of Cleburne, will be held at 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, March 25, 2025 in Rio Vista Cemetery. The viewing is scheduled for Monday 9:00 A.M. -5:00 P.M. at Crosier Pearson Cleburne Funeral Home.
J.C. Stafford, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and community member, passed away on March 20, 2025, in Cleburne, Texas. Born on November 17, 1936, in Derden, Texas, J.C. lived a life steeped in hard work and dedication to his family.
Growing up on a farm, he developed a strong work ethic that would serve him well throughout his life. J.C. went on to work for the Santa Fe Railroad. Upon retiring, after 34 years as an apprentice instructor, he embraced his passion for ranching, becoming a dedicated cattle rancher who took great pride in his work and the life he created.
A man of strong values and principles, J.C. was a proud member of the Kopperl Masonic Lodge and held the esteemed title of a 32nd degree mason within the Scottish Rite Order. He was also a member of the Rio Vista Baptist Church. His commitment to service and community was evident throughout his life, and he touched the hearts of many through his quiet strength and wisdom.
J.C. was not only a man of the land but also a devoted family man. He is remembered as a reserved yet loving husband to his wife of 63 years, Cecileen Stafford. Together, they nurtured their family, including their daughter Kim Hampton; son, Jason Stafford and wife Lupe; grandson, Sam Hampton, and sisters-in-law, Joann Stafford and Peggy Montanez. He is also survived by a host of other relatives as well.
J.C. was preceded in death by his parents, William and Cora Johnson Stafford; siblings, Johnny Williams Stafford, Estie Mae Stafford Allen, Blanch Stafford Ward, E.C. Stafford, Dewie Henderson Stafford, Doris Fay Stafford Collins, Bobbie Gene Stafford, and his twin brother W.P. Stafford.
The family extends special thanks to Dawn Raby and the entire care team from Wings Over Texas for their compassion and dedication during this time.
J.C. will be profoundly missed by his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know him. His legacy of love, hard work, and dedication will live on in the hearts of many.
