J. Strickland

J.D. Strickland passed away Thursday, March 17, 2005 in Keene. He was born January 31, 1910 in Alvarado, Tx., to Robert and Susie Elisabeth Strickland. He married Margaret Bell Decker on March 15, 1930 in Alvarado.
Mr. Strickland was a retired dairy farmer and cattle trader and won numerous awards for his hay production. Mr. and Mrs. Strickland raised their family on their dairy in Bono, Tx., before moving his farm to Cleburne when he retired from the dairy business. He still grew and bailed his own hay up until the age of 93. He was a member of Field Street Baptist Church for over 50 years. He was a devoted husband, loving father, admired "Papaw" and caring friend. He touched the lives of everyone who knew him, and we will forever be blessed for having him in our lives for so many years.
J.D. Strickland is survived by his four children, Charles Strickland and wife Sally, Elaine Lanman, Linda Bolling and husband Gary, Nelda Parker; six grandchildren, Mike Lanman and wife Coletta, Steve Lanman and wife Nancy, Phil Lanman and wife Judy, Saletta Morgan and husband Stacy, Brian Bolling, Stacy Freeman and husband Doug; six great grandchildren, Angel Faber and husband Jonathan, Hoston Strickland Hanna, Saleton Morgan, Ginger Lanman, Ashlyn Freeman, and Megan Freeman; one great-great grandson, Michael Lanman; three step grandchildren, Erica Drackett, Hugh Gall, Janis McGuffy; and eight step great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Strickland, his parents, and eleven brothers and sisters.
