J.W. Thompson passed away Saturday, November 17, 2007 in Cleburne. Mr. Thompson was born April 11, 1929 in Leon County, Texas to Willie Lee and Julia Mildred Gage Thompson. He married Lillie Anderson Morgan on January 21, 2005 in Cleburne.
Mr. Thompson retired from the State of Texas with over 30 years of service in the Department of Transportation and also as a correction guard with the Department of Corrections. He was very active in the community and loved his farming. Mr. Thompson was very well known for his coaching of youth in many sports.

Thompson is survived by his wife, Lillie Thompson of Cleburne; sons, James Walker Thompson of Joshua, Bruce Wayne Walker and wife Pauletta of Haskell, OK and Larry David Thompson of Wichita, KS; sister, Ruby Lee Roberson of Palestine, TX; brothers, Nugen F. Thompson and wife Margie of Oakwood, TX, John Thompson and wife Vera of Ft. Worth and Vernon Thompson and wife Wanda of Ft. Worth; 9 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; step-sons, Lesley Amos of Hearne, TX and Russell Amos and wife Sherie of Crowley; step-daughters, Charlotte Wilkinson and husband Ronald of Mauriceville, TX and Cherilyn Francis and husband Lee of Corpus Christi, TX; 10 step-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Beverly Rose Thompson on November 21, 1987.
