James Benson

Memorial services for James A. “Jim” Benson, 70, of Cleburne will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, June 21, 2018 at Calvary Baptist Church. The Reverend Charles E. Payne and Reverend Brooks Monk officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Chad McClure and Geary Don McDonald.


Mr. Benson passed away Saturday, June 16, 2018 in Fort Worth. He was born August 24, 1947 in Durant, OK. to Joe Horice and Alpha Faye Rackley Benson. He married Virginia Louise Payne on August 25, 1968 in Ardmore, OK.
Mr. Benson was self employed as a floor installer with over 50 years of service. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include his beloved wife Virginia Benson of Cleburne; five children, Chuck Benson and wife Melanie of Rio Vista, Larry Benson of Mesquite, Cary Benson and wife Shirley of Carthage , MO., Devin Benson and wife Dana of Alvarado, Meredith “Pixie” Benson of Kansas City, MO.; four siblings, Denise McDonald of Boyd, Janie Brady of Ada, OK., Jo Sears of San Angelo, and Sue McClure of Boyd; 14 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and honorary son Chad McClure of Joshua.

Preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, Benny Benson, Bobby Benson, John Benson and sister Delores Knight.
