Mr. Burns went to be with the Lord in Fort Worth on Friday, November 19, 2010. He was born April 11, 1928 also in Fort Worth to Arnold and Marie McMillan Burns. James Burns began his career at Harbison-Fischer, an oilfield equipment manufacturer of international renown located in Crowley, Texas, in 1944 while still in high school. He rose through the ranks and served in many capacitates including Plant Superintendent in his early career and in 1974 was elected President of Harbison-Fischer Sales Company and Executive Vice President of Harbison-Fischer Manufacturing Co. He also served as a member of the Board of Directors of Harbison-Fischer and its subsidiaries. His loyal service and contributions to Harbison-Fischer's success spanned 55 years, and his lifelong career there concluded with his retirement in August 1998. He was a member of various business and civic organizations throughout the years. James served in the National Guard and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He married his best friend and love of his life, Lolita Jobe on July 27, 1994 in Fort Worth. "PawPaw" was at his happiest with his family and beloved pets at the family's lakehouse. He was a man of few words, but when he spoke people listened. Being an intelligent and organized man, he often was looking for a new project. The more challenging the better, was his frame of mind. He never gave up on anything he set his mind to. James was a loving and giving man, often putting others above his own needs, especially his family. He enjoyed working and fishing. James' strong, quiet spirit and loving nature will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Lolita Burns; children, Eric Jobe and his wife, Allison, and Adam Jobe and his wife, Stephanie; grandchildren, Makane Jobe, Major Jobe, and one on the way; sisters, Dot Rogers and Margaret Daniels; four biological children, Rebecca Grabeel, James Burns, Jr., Jennifer Dugan, and Gina Wigginton; and a host of other relatives and friends.
