Service for James H. Elmore, 86, of Joshua will be conducted at 10:00 A.M., Monday, July 14, 2014 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Burial will be in Blum Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jody Elmore, Jerry Elmore, Brandon Gaston, Rick Whitehead, Brady Gaston, Cade Campbell, Jake Campbell, Ryan Elmore, Blake Gibson and Evan Gibson. Honorary pallbearer will be Adam Anderson. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 P.M., Sunday, at the funeral home.
James H. Elmore went home to be with his Lord on Monday, July 7, 2014 in Joshua. He was born September 10, 1927 in Hill County to Jess F. and Irene Pace Elmore. He married Elnora Glee Dixon on August 26, 1950 in Fort Worth and she preceded him in death on May 28, 2008.
Mr. Elmore served his country in the United States Army from 1950-1952. He worked at Rector Well Equipment Co. in Fort Worth for 28 years as a machinist and welder. During this time he attended barber school and worked at Lee’s Barbershop in Handley, Texas.
He loved to hunt dove and quail and was the family champion 42 player. Other hobbies were coin collecting, genealogy, and gardening. He loved fiddle music and going to “fiddlins”. He donated regularly to St. Jude Children’s Hospital and Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital. He was a wonderful Christian man who loved the Lord.
Survivors include two sons, Randy Elmore and Valerie of Glen Rose, Marty Elmore and wife Jana of Bowie; four daughters, Kathy Anderson and husband Andy of Cross Plains, Vicky Gaston and husband Russell of Minden, Louisiana, Debbie Campbell and husband Tony of Cleburne, and Tammy Gibson and husband Mark of Allen; grandchildren, Jody Elmore, Jerry Elmore and wife Elizabeth, Amanda Shafer and husband Scott, Adam Anderson, Dusty Hancock and husband Quincy, Daley Prasad and husband Vijay, Brandon Gaston and Allison, Rick Whitehead and wife Crystal, Brady Gaston and Heather, Cade Campbell, Jake Campbell, Ryan Elmore, Taylor Elmore, Lynsi Woodson, Blake Gibson, and Evan Gibson; great grandchildren, Erik, Gage, Jess, Paige, Trace, Tatum, Grace, Cash, Caine, Savannah, Causen, Kylenn, Braydon, Dawson, Madelyn, Carson, Caylon, Grayer, and Lawton; and many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; and three sisters.
