Service for James F. Scott, 90, of Cleburne, will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, May 10, 2017 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. The Reverend John Warren will officiate, assisted by Reverend Lish Burgess, Reverend Johnie McDowell Dollarhide and Reverend Donald Earl. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Isaiah Washington, J.J. Scott Jr., Bernard Brown, Ricky Lacy, Rekeem Dory and Steven Scott. Honorary pallbearer will be Bruce Washington II.
Visitation will be from 6-8:00 P.M., Tuesday, at the funeral home.
James F. Scott passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2017 in Cleburne. He was born April 2, 1927 in Kaufman to Jordan and Lora B. Etheridge Scott. He married Velma Lee Patterson on June 9, 1946 in Kaufman. After 70 years of marriage, she preceded him in death on March 12, 2017.
Mr. Scott was an environmental service worker for Walls Hospital, retiring with over 38 years of exemplary service. He loved to play dominoes, bingo and scratch lottery tickets. He was a member of Bethel Salter AME Church.
Survivors include his daughters, Mary Washington of Cleburne, Brenda Prather of Hurst and Irene Hunter of Kemp, her eight children and her numerous grandchildren; son, Charles Scott of Cleburne; grandsons, Randall Scott, J.J. Scott Jr., Marcus Grant and wife Chouly and Bernard Brown; granddaughters, Naomi Brown Allen and husband Victor, Pam Lacy and husband Ricky Sr. and Marla Prather; great grandsons, Bruce Washington II, Isaiah Washington and Corey Spencer; great granddaughter, Blaire Washington; numerous other great and great-great grandchildren; sisters Mary Ross and Lora Scott; and a brother, Ripley Scott. He was also preceded in death by his parents; three children, Jimmy, Bobby and Annie Scott; two sisters and two brothers.
