James Andrew Howard, 91, of Cleburne passed away peacefully at home om Monday October 30, 2023.
He was born on November 4, 1931at home to Henry Evelyn Pimenta and Cory Thomas Howard in Canton, Mississippi.
He attended grade school in Farmhaven, Mississippi until his mother relocated the family to Texas in 1947. James quit school in 8th grade to work the family’s dairy farm, driving a tractor spreading gravel. James volunteered for the Army in 1953. He trained in San Antonio and El Paso before being sent to Japan for a year and a half. He completed his service in 1955. After service James found work at the Lime Plant. Bagging and hydrating lime and loading trucks for two years. During this time he met Noretia Phillips. They married in 1956 and started a family.
James applied at General Motors and began a 25 year career at the automotive plant on the assembly line. He took early retirement to be home to help raise his granddaughter.
James was a kind and gentle. A God fearing man who worked tirelessly to provide for his family. He loved to garden, carefully tending the soil to provide vegetables and beautiful flowers. He was handy around the house, tinkering with various projects and keeping himself busy with wood crafts. He enjoyed baking pies, cookies and other treats for his grandchildren.
James is preceded in death by his beloved wife Noretia Faye Howard, Son, Barry Howard, grandson, Dustin Howard and nine siblings, Mary, Jack, Leo, I.W., Herman, Sarh, Christine, Henry and Cathy.
James is survived by children, Jay Howard (Paula), Ricky Howard (Vicki), Rebecca Termin (Roy); grandchildren, Krystalle, Lezlie, Ricky, Tim, Misty, Tiffany; great-grandchildren, Caleb, Jeska, Alissa, Josh, Abbie, Jacky, Cheyenne, Kelsy, Tony, Savana, Connie and Dylan and nieces, nephews and extended family.
Graveside service will be conducted at 10:00 A.M., Friday, November 3, 2023 in Rosehill Cemetery in Cleburne. Visitation will be 4-8:00 P.M., Thursday, November 2, 2023 at Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Funeral Home in Cleburne
