Service for James E. Lipe, Sr., 81, of Venus will be conducted at 2:30 P.M., Saturday, June 26, 2021 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Reverend Wayne Earl will officiate. Burial will be in Venus Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6:30-8:30 P.M., Friday, June 25, 2021 at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Clinton Watson, Trevor Lipe, Dustin McMennamy, Abel Oviedo, Daniel Baker and Jesse Cooke.
James passed away June 22, 2021 in Venus. He was born January 20, 1940 in Rogersville, Tennessee to Henry and Nettie Lou Ferrel Lipe. James was an optician for Southwest Lens in Dallas with 49 years of service and was also a minister for many years. He attended Caney Creek Church in Tennessee. Before pastoring Brush Arbor Church in Alvarado, Texas, James attended Melody Baptist Church in Cedar Hill where he was ordained as a minister. He played the banjo and loved going to Bluegrass festivals. James enjoyed working on cars in his early years and loved his animals especially his faithful granddog Tuff.
James is survived by his son, James E. Lipe, Jr. and wife Cathy of Longview, Alberta; daughter, Tammy McMennamy and husband Jim of Venus; sisters, Betty Manis of Rogersville, Tennessee, Bobbie Johnson of Rogersville, Tennessee; brothers, Pete Lipe and wife Mary of Rogersville, Tennessee, Roy Lipe wife Margaret of Rogersville, Tennessee grandchildren, Clinton, Nikki, Sarah, Dustin, Vincent, Trevor, Kaitlyn, Phoenix, Lauren; 10 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
James is preceded in death by his parent; brothers, Coy Lee Lipe, Gene Lipe, twin John E. Lipe, Merle Lipe, Warren Lipe, Jack Lipe; daughter, Beverly Foster; mother of his children, Lou Ann Lipe, brothers-in-law, Earl Johnson and Fred Manis
