James Payne

Services for James Payne are scheduled for 10:00 am, Friday, December 4, 2009 at Calvary Baptist Church, Cleburne; where he was a member since 2000. Burial will follow at Hopewell Cemetery. Visitation is at the funeral home from 6:30-8:30 pm on Thursday.
James Payne passed away Monday, November 30, 2009 in Cleburne. He was born to the late Shelton and Villa Elizabeth Honea Payne on April 18, 1935 in Kopperl, Texas. James married Edna Juanita Wiggs on July 18, 1953 in Cleburne. He worked as a machinist for Martin Sprocket & Gear for numerous years, and then owned and operated Payne's Grocery & Market in Frost, Texas. James was known as a quiet, easy-going man with a giving heart. He was a hard worker, enjoying working with his hands and restoring antiques. He was a wonderful husband and loving father who will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved him. He is preceded in death by his parents; son in law, Jim Butler; brother, Roy Payne; and sister, Beth King.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Edna Juanita Payne; son, Mike Payne and his wife, Janet; daughter, Patti Butler; four grandchildren and their spouses, Justin, Kassi and Kevin, Jeff and Mandy, and Jordan; sister, Ann Cooper Bullard; several nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
