Service for James Alvis Scott, Jr., 81, of Cleburne, will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Friday, April 29, 2011 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Burial will follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 P.M. Thursday.
Mr. Scott passed away Thursday, April 21, 2011 in Fort Worth. He was born April 14, 1930 in Franklin, TX to James Alexander and Josephine Rodgers Scott. He married Dorothy Lee McBride on December 15, 1950 in Lubbock.
Mr. Scott was a retired tracksman for the railroad and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his sons, James Henry Scott, Sr. and wife, Carolyn of Arlington, Charles Ray Scott, Sr. and wife Peggy of Ft. Worth, Willie Earl Scott and wife, Shirleen of Crowley and Alvis Lee Scott Sr. and wife Eishia of Grand Prairie; daughters, Doris Jean Scott Richard of Cleburne and Ylonda Yvette Scott Leichman of Arlington; 13 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; brothers, Johnny Scott of Las Vegas, NV and Henry Scott of Merced, CA.; sister, Gracie Scott of Merced, CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy L. Scott on May 2, 2008; brothers, Ray Scott and Willie Joe Scott; sisters, Frances Scott and Alice Mae Thompson.
