Graveside service for James Edwin “Jim” Simmons, 81, of Cleburne, will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, August 31, 2021 in Rosehill Cemetery in Cleburne. Visitation will be 6-8:00 P.M., Monday, August 30, 2021 at the funeral home.
Jim passed away August 26, 2021 in Cleburne. He was born February 12, 1940 in Vivian, Louisiana to Carroll James and Ona Pearl Williamson Simmons. Jim married Sheila Maxine Dickson on August 15, 1959 in Texarkana, Texas. He worked for Ford Motor Company for 20 years in both Kansas City, Missouri and Dallas, Texas the 19 years for Henkel Surfaces Technology in Arlington, Texas. Jim and Sheila were active team ropers and spent countless, enjoyable hours and years in the sport. He was light hearted and always had a smile on his face. He never was idle. He always found something to do usually outside. Jim’s forgiving nature and “love of life” spirit will be remembered in the hearts of all who knew him.
Jim is survived by his wife, Sheila Simmons; children, Tammy Stocker and husband Richard and Kathy Simmons; daughter-in-law, Michelle Simmons; 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren and brother, Harmon Simmons & wife Sondra; numerous nieces and nephews and host of other relatives and friends.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents; son, Kenneth James Simmons; sister, Betty Carol Moore, and grandson, David James Stocker.
