James Stewart

Graveside service for James Edward “Jim” Stewart, 79, of Royse City, Texas will be conducted at 1:15 P.M., Tuesday, April 5, 2022, in DFW National Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, March 19, 2022, from 4-6:00 P.M., at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Allen Steed, Eric Stewart, Brian Scott Houck, and Thomas Morin.

Jim passed away Sunday, March 13, 2022, in Royse City. He was born April 3, 1942, in Dallas to Henderson Young and Mary Jo (Washam) Stewart. He married Hattie Bell Cheek on June 28, 1968, in Dallas. Jim was of the Baptist faith. He served in the United States Army and was self-employed in Sales. Jim was a lover of music. He played several instruments including, but not limited to, the violin and piano.

Jim is survived by his wife, Hattie Stewart of Terrell, Texas; sons, Eric Stewart and wife, Robin of Wilmot, New Hampshire, and Allen Steed of Terrell, Texas; daughter, Vel Lena Steed L’Hoste of Mandeville, Louisiana; 9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; brother, Danny Stewart and wife, Nina of Florida; sister, Linda Ring of Royse City, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by 2 great-grandchildren.
