James Whitehead

Graveside service for James Edward Whitehead, Jr., 58, of Cleburne will be conducted at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2015 in Rio Vista Cemetery. Pastor Jacky Mears will officiate. Pallbearers will be Wesley Brown, Allen Lancaster, Clay Applegate, Michael Sims, Derrick Artre, and John Robbins. Honorary pallbearers will be Lee Whitehead, Jr., Cameron Whitehead, Austin Whitehead, James Whitehead, Boston Webb, and Braxton Weger. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 P.M., Tuesday, at the funeral home.
James Edward Whitehead, Jr. passed away Sunday, Dec. 27, 2015 in Ft. Worth. He was born July 31, 1957 in Cleburne to James Edward and Velma Louise Matthews Whitehead., He married Mary Ann Gaskill on Sept. 21, 1984 in Cleburne.
J.R. was a truck driver for 35 years and was known as a man of his word. He was also a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and a friend to many. J.R. fought very hard against all the obstacles to his health. In the end he succumbed to lung cancer, but was valiant in his desire to live. He will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Whitehead; children, Lee Whitehead and wife Jennifer, Chris Whitehead and wife Jennifer, Walter Webb, and Brian Webb and wife Daphne, all of Cleburne; grandchildren, Lee, Cameron, Austin, James, Boston, Braxton, Brooklynn, Holly, Gracie, Ronnie, and Dakota; siblings, Cathy Whitehead Stevens and Steven Whitehead and wife Darla; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Vicky Applegate; maternal grandparents, Henry and Matilda Matthews; and paternal grandparents, Ernest and Eludy Whitehead.
