Jan Szczerba

Service for Jan Szczerba, 46, of Kemp, will be conducted at 12:00 P.M. Sunday, January 9, 2011 in the Keene Seventh-Day Adventist Spanish Church. Pastor Carlos Craig and Pastor Isaac Lopez will officiate. Pallbearers will be Luis Rivera, Marek Omelanczuk, Andrzej Kostecki, Mariuse Kutniowski, Monty Suther and Leszek Trelinski. Burial will be in the Keene Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home.

Mr. Szczerba passed away Saturday, January 1, 2011 in Tyler. He was born May 18, 1964 in Olsztym, Poland to Bronislaw and Jadwiga Zejmo Szczerba. He married Lucy Moreno on December 15, 1991 in Keene.

Jan was an electrical engineer. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, the 19th Texas Infantry Civil War reenactors and was of the Christian faith.

Mr. Szczerba is survived by his wife, Lucy Szczerba ; son, Bryan Gregory Szczerba and daughter, Venessa Anet Szczerba, all of Kemp; brothers, Romauld and Andrew Szczerba, both of Poland; niece, Sabina Suther and husband Monty; cousin, Marek Omelanczuk; nephew, Michael Omelanczuk and numerous friends and co-workers. He was preceded in death by his parents and cousin, Irena Omelanczuk.
