Janie Staley

Janie “Momma J” Staley passed away Sunday, September 26, 2021, in her home surrounded by family. She was born August 4, 1941, in Cleburne to Dayton Holland Stella Cox Holland.

Janie worked at the Bosque County Courthouse as a clerical worker for many years. She had a passion for barrel racing. There was not a rodeo arena in or around Johnson County that she had not rode in, even being sheriff posse sweetheart. She also enjoyed working with leather, making belts, wallets, pictures and more. There is not a person that she loved that does not have something handmade from her. She found joy in music and dancing. There have been many memories made with the song, “Silver Wings”. She loved her children; her family and her Bosque County kids. She will leave us all with memories of her unforgettable smile, amazing hugs, field parties, and slow dancing in the middle of a highway. We can all rest assured knowing that her dancing will be continued on the streets of gold.

Janie is survived by her children, Conley Staley and wife Kelly, John Staley and significant other Page Cundiff, Joe Staley and Susan Lapinski, Troy Lapinski, and Jarrod Page; grandkids, Morgan Staley, Tyler Harris, Eric and Kaci Brooks, Meagan Brooks, Drake and Brandy Staley, Shay Staley and significant other Matthew Brown, and Jancy Page; great-grandchildren, Carter and Corbin Staley, Amber and Kaden Staley, Parker Staley, Bryce and Jace Brooks and Ryann Fant.

She is preceded in death by Mammy and Papa, along with her brothers and one sister.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Baker-Lain Cemetery Association.
