Service for Jasper Don Jernigan, Jr., 94, of Godley, will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, January 31, 2024, in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel with Pastor Kenneth Coleman officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in Godley Cemetery.
Don passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2024, in Godley. He was born January 31, 1929 in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee to Jasper D. and Laura G. (Belew) Jernigan. Don married Wanda Lou Pittman on August 16, 1958 in Godley. He was of the Baptist faith. Don proudly served in the United States Air Force. He and his wife owned Kountry Korner in Godley for 40 years. He enjoyed playing music all over Johnson County. Don received the Volunteer Entertainer of the year in the State of Texas. He rode in the Goat Neck Bicycle race in Cleburne until he was 85 years old. Don loved his family and enjoyed spending as much time with them as he could. He loved to travel and loved people.
He is survived by his son, Roni Jernigan and wife, Diane; grandchildren, Katie Guajardo and husband, Greg, Travis Dillon, Ford Frazier, Kelsey Andrews and husband, Jake, Sydney Jernigan, and Chloe Jernigan; 9 great-grandchildren; brother, Gene Jernigan and wife, Margaret; and numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 52 years, Wanda Lou Jernigan; daughter, Janis Jernigan; sisters, Martha Culver, and Edna Buckner.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to Patti Goreman for her companionship and care, Aleve Hospice and the entire Godley Community for their friendship and support.
