Services for J.C. Preston Woodard, 86, of Cleburne, will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 21, 2006 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Dr. Joe Stephens will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
J.C. Preston Woodard passed away Monday, December 18, 2006 in Cleburne. He was born July 31, 1920 in Alvarado to Columbus "Lum" and Zula Brooks Woodard. He married Carleta Junell on September 1950.
Mr. Woodard moved to the Bono community as a child and lived there until enlisting in the US Army. He served in Patton's 3rd Army during WWII. He retired from Bell Helicopter, where he worked for over 20 years, and formerly worked with his father in home building. He was a member of Cleburne Elks Lodge, American Legion and was a member of Henderson Street Baptist Church and enjoyed farming.
J.C. Preston Woodard is survived by his son, Robert Woodard and wife Jackie of Plano; daughter, Gayla Whitaker and husband Robert of Victoria; grandchildren, Ginny Whitaker, Grace Whitaker, Carlie Wooodard and Jason Woodard; aunt, Dorothy Woodard; brother-in-law, Jack Alexander; sisters-in-law, Francis Tiner and Bernadine Junell and his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Carleta Woodard on June 18, 1985; daughter, Jaris June Woodard; three sisters, Thelma Mullins, Erma Fae Yeates and Edith Mae Alexander.
