J.D. Newsom

Graveside services for J.D. Newsom, 89, of Cleburne will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, June 12, 2010 in the Rosehill Cemetery. Mr. Dennis Tuttle III will officiate. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons, N.H. Laseman, Charles Hauk and Johnny Clements. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Newsom passed away Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at his home in Cleburne. He was born November 23, 1920 in Alvarado to Thea and Leatha Rose Newsom. He married Evelyn Porter on September 18, 1939 in Itasca.

J.D. served his country proudly as a U.S. Army Staff Sergeant with the 34th Medical Depot Company during WWII. He worked for Prine's Auto Salvage for many years before retiring and was of the Baptist faith.

J.D. Newsom is survived by his wife of more than 70 years, Evelyn Newsom and one daughter, Rita Fossett and husband, Dale, all of Cleburne; grandchildren, Angie, Dianna, Jim, Kevin and Keith; great grandchildren, Jennifer, Dennis, Dustin, Ty, Lauren, Jarred, Destiny, Danny, Seth, Sage and Jessi and one great-great grandchild, Sariah, all who love and miss him very much.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Helen Clements in 2006 and many brothers and sisters.
