Service for Jean Sowers Dodge, 90, of Cleburne will be conducted at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2015 in the Calvary Baptist Church. The Reverend Charles E. Payne will officiate, assisted by the Reverend Brooks Monk. Burial will be in Kimball Cemetery in Bosque County. Pallbearers will be Charles Baskett, Ben Lindsay, Stan Arnold, Earl Sides, Tommy Briscoe, and Butch Rux. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 P.M., Monday, at the funeral home.
Jean Sowers Dodge passed away Thursday, Nov. 12, 2015 in Cleburne. She was born Sept. 14, 1925 in Crow to Bennie and Ora Kolb Sikes. She married Charles Raymond Sowers in 1944 in Ft. Worth and he preceded her in death on Dec. 9, 1979.
Mrs. Dodge was a loving wife, mother, grand-and great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many. She retired from Round Rock Lime in 1985, where she was a sales director. She started her second career in 1990 as a medical record coder, retiring again in 2008. Jean loved country music and danced like nobody was watching. She was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church. Jean will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her daughters, Shirley Peters of Blum and Lou Ann Arnold and husband Stan of Stephenville; son, Ricky Sowers and wife Donna of Burleson; sister, Willie Mae Ellis of Plano; grandchildren, Bob Lindsay, Ben Lindsay and wife Jennifer, Amy Arnold, Shannon Ledesma, Robyn Sowers and Dawn Napolian; great grandchildren, Daniel Lindsay, Tyler Arnold, Cagen Ledesma; special nephew, Ken Parton; special friend, L.B. Bynum; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was also preceded in death by her parents; sister, Opal Parton; and grandson, Rusty Arnold.
