Jean Peterson, a beloved matriarch and a true renaissance woman, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2024, in Cleburne, Texas. Born on March 5, 1927, in Fort Worth, Texas, she brought joy and wisdom to those around her throughout her 97 remarkable years.
Jean was a woman of many talents and an individual who deeply understood the importance of adaptability in an ever-changing world. Known for her creative spirit and tech-savvy nature, she embraced the advancements of her time, always determined to choose happiness in every endeavor. Her vibrant personality and zest for life inspired not only her family but also everyone fortunate enough to know her.
She leaves behind a loving family who will cherish her memory. Jean is survived by her children: Liz Gillin; Barbara Jean Renken and her husband, Virgil Gene Renken; and Mary Sue Ortiz and her husband, Yddo Ortiz. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Jennifer Sackerson, Matthew Gillin, Jonathan Gillin, Jason Renken, Melissa George, Kimberly Saraswat, Bryan Renken, Justin Woods, and Ben Woods, as well as her 16 great-grandchildren. Jean is also survived by her sister, Barbara Nell Wareham residing in Yucaipa, California.
Jean is preceded in death by her parents, Martin Eli and Gladys Nanney Nix; the father of her children, Howard Voss; her second husband, Frank Peterson and great-granddaughter, Avery Amaya Saraswat. Their love and guidance undoubtedly shaped the incredible woman Jean became.
A visitation in honor of Jean will be held at Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Funeral Home located at 512 N Ridgeway Dr, Cleburne, TX 76033, on Saturday, January 11, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Her funeral service will take place Sunday, January 12, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Keene Seventh-day Adventist Church, located at 114 North Fairview Street, Keene, TX 76059.
The impact of Jean Peterson's life will endure in the hearts of her loved ones and all who had the privilege to know her. She leaves a legacy of love, creativity, and an unwavering commitment to happiness.
She had a lifelong steadfast faith in God that will inspire generations to come.
